As we head further into 2023, it’s clear that there are (arguably) only three different ways to make money online today.

That might sound crazy, as I’m sure you’re constantly hearing about the newest way to make a quick buck on the internet… But stick with me! Because while there are countless ways to take advantage of the internet’s income-building opportunities, whichever route you take will pretty much always fall into one of three categories.

1. Promote

The first way to make money online is to promote a company or product.

This can be done through affiliate programs, freelance work, or even by creating sponsored content. By promoting other companies and products, you can earn a commission on sales or a flat fee for your work.

One of the best things about promoting other companies is that you don't have to create your own products or services. Instead, you can focus on promoting products that you believe in and that align with your brand. This can be a great way to earn money without the hassle of creating and managing your own products.

This particular route is great for beginner digi-preneurs, and it can really gain momentum to offer full-time income (or even lifestyle-changing income!) within a few short months. Affiliate marketing, in particular, requires consistent minimal effort and compounds over time. Some industry leaders make over $100K per month!

You might also be surprised to find out which of your favorite companies already have an affiliate program. Just type the company’s name + ‘affiliate program’ (ex. “Gucci affiliate program”) into a search engine, and get excited!

Some affiliate programs require you to apply, and some just require you to start a free affiliate account! Set up your banking info (so they can pay you), then start promoting the special link they give you on whatever platforms you choose—no website needed!

Stay consistent, then watch the checks start rolling in! It’s that simple.

2. Sell

The second way to make money online is to sell products or services yourself.

This can be done by creating your own products or reselling products from other companies, or by offering a service such as coaching / consulting or done-for-you freelance work.

Selling your own products or services can be incredibly rewarding, but it does require more time and effort than promoting other companies. You'll need to create a product or service that people want, market it effectively, and manage sales and customer service. However, if you're willing to put in the work, selling your own products or services can be an incredibly lucrative way to make money online.

Since average e-commerce annual income is about $115K, and can range from about $72K to over $400K, the upfront work is absolutely worth it for most!

If you’re new to online business and choose to go this route, just take it day by day. There will be many things you’ll have to learn as you go, and it’s best if you build in your spare time outside of your current employment. When it’s finally time for launch, you’ll be thankful for all of the work you put in gradually.

3. Advertise

The third way to make money online is to advertise.

This can include all manner of advertising for yourself or others, via channels such as Google AdSense, Facebook Ads, or sponsored content. By placing ads on your website or social media channels, you can earn money based on the number of clicks or views the ads receive.

While advertising can be a great way to earn money passively, it's important to remember that you'll need a significant amount of traffic to make a substantial income. So, if you're just starting out, you may want to focus on promoting or selling first.
